Mail for E21 by Luches Mail for E21 by Luches
Originally designed as high speed commence raiders, their crew soon realised that the lack of armor make them easy prey to fast firing light weapons of the very ships that they are supposed to hunt. But unfortunately many had already been completed before the flaw was discovered.

In order to make up for the mistake, the military decided to make use of the countless obsolete tanks by taking their guns and armors to improve the fight capablities the boats. In order to fool the enemy intelligence, all the refitted boats were called "Panzerschiffe" or armored ships.

Despite being fitted with more armor and a heavier new gun, the boats were still very capable of performing their role well, easily outrunning any ships thats more powerful then it is, but is more than capable of taking on any ships that can catch up to it.

While performing very well in their early year, the enemy managed to counter it with better weapons being mounted on their merchant ships, and many ships were sunk as a result. Soon the surviving ships were mostly taken off their raiding missions and many left to rust in
docks.

The E21 is one such boat which had been left to rust in the docks while her crew waited fortheir next mission

Reminds me a lot of the anime Black Lagoon in tone, though I don't know if that's what you intended.  It has a very "ocean mercenary" feel to it, I can easily see it being from that series, or even a "modern day" version of the Pirates of the Carib films.  I may be reading something into it, but it also seems to have a bit of a sense of humor, a sort of wink that says "Don't take this too seriously."

I like the touch of the Panzer-III turret (at least, that's what the design of the turret seems closest to) as the fore turret mount, it's a nice bit of versimilitude; and given the small size of the boat, that turret fits if it had intended to have some light armor.  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PzK…

they should upgrade their turret weapon from the early war short 50mm shown here, to the later war long 75mm with far more range and penetrating power as the MkIV this turrent came from, was.

The British ended up mounting 25lder artillery and multi barrel antiaircraft 20mm Orkilon guns on theirs.

I can spot two changes... you've taken off the upper rear gun turret and you've made the funnel shorter and more angled.

I thought it was the Tirpitz because Fjord = Navy, Panzer IV turret on boat = Germany, therefore Navy + Germany = Tirpitz... don't try to make sense of that, lol.

But I really should be complimenting you on this painting. It really does seem as though the crew have little to do.
Have you given a name to this... universe?

thank you :D

Hahah Germany still have the Bismarck, Scharhost and her sister ship, speaking of which the ship now seem to be closer to the Scharhost class then the Bismarcks :p

Nope I still don't have a name to this universe yet

Funny you said you get inspired by Valkyria Chronicles, because the first look I do on this piece I think, it's a scene of the game? But there is not boats on the game!

In the game designer words Valkyria Chronicles is basically a concept based on World War I/II type world with a touch of fantasy.

I am doing something similar, just a reimaging of World War I/II type world but without the fantasy elements of Valkyria Chronicles.
