Here are some pages I did for the 1st issue of the comic Shrapnel: Aristeia Rising from Radical Publishing. In fact these are the very first test pages I did the colors for, the previous pages are done by :iconukitakumuki:

The talented Bagus Hutomo AKA :iconp0p5: did the base while I did the colours over them. It had been a blast working with a talent like him. He shall be putting up the base for show (or even do some colours on them too :D ) so watch out for them too.

And special thanks to :iconukitakumuki: for teaching me all the really nice fanciful effects that appeared in the book :p

Shrapnel: Aristeia Rising is a property of Zombie Studios and Radical Publishing

Where should I begin to describe why I featured this piece today? The superb details, amazing light effects combined with an accurate palette giving the right feeling to a dynamic action scene, which by the way are not easy to find these days. Any idea what the latest is on releases / publishing and all that good stuff? I'd kill to have this on my bookshelf!

Oh that is AWESOME! I'll be harrassing my local comic store owners for a copy!

IFX featured Shrapnel in the news section of their January 2009 issue. As soon as I saw it, I vowed to track it down and read it to death. That there is some of the finest comic book art I have ever seen.

Ooh, dicey.

I have a copy of said issue. The article takes up about three quarters of a page. You can't see any of the art in great detail, but the article alone makes it sound absolutely fantastic.

Well, in that case (even though I've already said my piece on this):

I really think this shows a bold and progressive step forward for comics as a medium. I've seen plenty of books that looked amazing, but lacked the story and solid writing to back up the amazing artwork. Shrapnel looks to be a product that scores bang on the money.

When I first saw the artwork, I remember thinking 'Wow - this book looks amazing!' There's bucket-loads of atmosphere in the art, and it's very pretty to look at while remainng dynamic and clear.

It really put me in mind of a few books I read recently, like The Red Star, Slaine: Books Of Invasions and ABC Warriors: the Volgan War. All of them are fantastic books to look at, with satisfying stories.

Shrapnel has gone straight to the top of my 'must have' list!
