Project 100 Swords 002, Valeria Sword Fairy of The Espada
The only female Espada to ever achieve the Grandmaster title from the Espada Silver Council, at the age of 18 Valeria was also the youngest Grandmaster in the history of the Arcona Republic's Espada.
She studied under two different Espada Blademasters (after her first Master, a Grandmaster himself was killed in the Second Arcona - Windariam War) thus been distinct to have two completely fighting styles. Both styles was based on the Principles of Winds yet focus on two completely different approaches to attacking and defending.
The first style focus on swift flowing side steps and making full use of the swirling wind blades generated by the Runic blades for defense and offense. It was during one of Valeria performance of this beautiful style, that earn her reputation as the Sword Fairy.
The second style focus of using much heavier runic blades in a series of very offensive moves to break the opponents guard, while making full use of the wind generated in the process to throw the opponents off balance. Attempting to block the attacks will normally result in a few broken bones.
Her runic blade, "Bailarín del viento", is used for both styles, the Blade was made of Mithril with a steel core for balance and slight weight.
As the blade was more suited for the first style, Valeria came up with a way to employ the highly damaging second style without the need to change to a heavier sword.
While the blade is usually use to create sharp blades of winds that travel a long distance, Valeria is able to focus its power to a point the blade generate a powerful vortex starting at the tip of the blade. This simulated the powerful strikes of the second style yet still possess the speed of a lighter blade. The only downpoint is that the vortex can become too strong even Valeria to control thus the skill was usually used in moderation.
During the start of the Third Arcona-Windariam War, she volunteered her services to the Republic forces as do many of the other remaining Espada masters.
By the start of this third war, the Arcona Republic Army was not as well-trained as many of the veterens had fallen in the last war, but the military leaders learn to deploy the Espada, like Valeria as a spearhead of any attacks and to rally the inexperinced troops.
While Espada serving in the previous Wars wear their own clothes of their liking, now they are given the Flag of the Arcona Gold Council (or senate) to wear over their clothes to show their loyality to the state.
Here, Valeria stood at the head of Arcona Capital Defense troops as the main battle standard bearer, waiting to meet the elite troops of the Windariam Imperial Army
I'm not much of an artist, and even i can see how great it is xD. My only critique is that of armor... while what she is wearing is perfectly detailed, and covers her fairly realistically, her legs seem a bit.. unprotected xD. I'd hate to be her and have some guy manage to get in close, and slice upwards *shudder* Other than that, it's perfect! I love the swords, story and character xD
Regarding her unprotected legs--in her defense, unprotected legs were and still are fairly common: The Roman Legionnaires had unprotected legs; the Hoplites of the Greek army had unprotected legs, except for their shins which were protected by greaves; the Aztects, Mayans and Incas, all of whom had no armor at all except for their shields and possible head-wear; the Celts, whom of which went into battle completely naked and they're only sense of 'armor' was their war-paint.--Even today's modern troops have unprotected legs. The most that they might wear are a pair of knee-pads.
